Course Information:
Designer: Ben Wihry & Arthur Hill
Year: 1964

In 1961, V.V. Cooke and Paul Semonin, two prominent Louisville businessmen met to discuss the development of a championship golf course and first-class country club in the gently rolling countryside of Prospect, Kentucky. Their vision became reality on July 4, 1964 when Hunting Creek Country Club opened its doors. The name derives from the creek that traverses the course, itself named for the Little and Great Hunting Creeks on George Washington’s estate at Mount Vernon, Virginia. The golf course was designed by the late Ben Wihry, a longtime club member, in 1964. Many changes to the orginal layout have taken place over the years. Famed golf course architect Arthur Hill resdesigned all the bunkers on the course in 1989. During its history, the club has hosted nearly every major golf event in the state including three Kentucky Open Championships over the last twenty-five years. In the mid 1970's Hunting Creek was the site of several LPGA Bluegrass Invitational Tournaments.

With its spectacular views of gently rolling Kentucky hills. Hunting Creek is a 7,157-yard championship course and it is both a distinct challenge and a visual delight.
